Nerja is a very pretty, and relatively undeveloped corner of Spain, quite in contrast to the high rise resorts elsewhere on the Costa del Sol. Here you will still find typical white-washed Moorish houses, iron terraces overflowing with geraniums complete with the cobbled streets, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Almijara mountains.

Nerja boasts 16km of beautiful beaches with all major water sports on offer. Nerja is a lively town with many nice restaurants, tapas bars and an interesting nightlife scene.

The town's monuments include the 17th century Church of El Salvador and the beautiful Gardens of Capistrano Playa, which descend to Burriana Beach.

However, the heart of Nerja is it's the spectacular Balcón de Europa, a magnificent promenade along the edge of a spectacular cliff, with sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean, against an awesome backdrop of hazy blue mountains. Other popular attractions are the fascinating caves, one of the huge natural caverns has been transformed into a concert hall where performances are staged during the summer.
